All three are easy first all-inclusives from most US cities, and all three are best from December through April. The difference is what you want to do when you're not on the beach.

Cancun & Riviera Maya: the most to do
Pick it if you'll leave the resort. Mayan ruins (Tulum, Chichen Itza), cenote swims, the Isla Mujeres catamaran and big eco-parks are all within reach. Downtown and Playa del Carmen also have budget hotels if you'd rather not go all-inclusive.
Watch for: sargassum seaweed can reach the beaches in spring and summer. Hurricane season runs June through November.
Punta Cana: the easy-value pick
Pick it if you want a long beach, a big resort and little planning. Punta Cana's all-inclusives are among the best value in the Caribbean, and family resorts with kids' clubs and water parks are common. Saona Island by catamaran is the classic day trip.
Watch for: resorts are spread out, so pre-book your airport transfer. The tourist card is included in your airfare.
Jamaica: best for couples
Pick it for a honeymoon, an anniversary or an adults-only week. Couples and adults-only all-inclusives are Jamaica's strength. Add Dunn's River Falls, bamboo rafting on the Martha Brae, or sunset at Rick's Cafe in Negril.
Watch for: transfers to Negril take time from MBJ. Plan day trips with a private driver.
